Bill Gene Herman, a dedicated son, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was born on April 16, 1935, in Wichita, Kansas, to Paul and Jenny Herman. He passed away peacefully on October 8, 2024 in Hugoton, Kansas, leaving behind a legacy of love and commitment to his family and community.
He was a proud graduate of Ulysses High School, where he laid the foundation for a life by hard work and perseverance. He entered the workforce with a strong sense of duty, spending several years at Ideal Foods before moving on to Rindles Appliance and ultimately serving the Hugoton School District. His colleagues and supervisors alike recognized him as a loyal and dedicated employee whose work ethic set a standard for those around him.
Family was everything to Bill. He was known for his unwavering support and dedication, always prioritizing the needs of his loved ones. Whether it was through working tirelessly to provide for them or sharing joyful moments together, he was a pillar of strength in their lives. In his leisure time, Bill enjoyed engaging in friendly competition, often found playing pool, where his great sense of humor and infectious laughter could light up a room.
Bill is survived by his son, Larry Herman of Hugoton, Kansas; his daughter, Donna and her husband Dan Gould of Aurora, Colorado. He was the proud grandfather of Ty and his wife Emmy Herman of Hooker, Oklahoma, Megan Herman of Kansas City, Missouri, Terry and wife Desiree Bosch of Strasburg, Missouri, and Christina and husband Jeremy Benson. Bill also cherished his role as a great-grandfather to Hallie, Lea, Braden, Kaden, Johnna, Corbin, Austynn, Quincy, and Jamison, who brought immense joy to his life.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Roberta (Kratzer) Herman, along with five brothers and one sister. Their memories continue to resonate within the hearts of those who remain, ensuring that Bill’s legacy of love, dedication, and humor will be cherished by all who knew him.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at 10 AM at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, Kansas.
